Just a few questions...

What month do you like the most?
What's your favourite day of the week?
What's your favourite colour?
How do you feel?
Here are some of the many activities usually done with the 3rd and 4th form students: matching games, playing the hanged man, putting words in the correct sequence and drawing on the board.

Do you know Little Bunny Foo Foo?

Easter is just around the corner. Here is a fine song/story to introduce it or to use while studying the topic Animals/ Pets.
***
Little Bunny Foo Foo is a naughty bunny who insists on kissing the field mice's heads despite the Good Fairy's warnings: "I'll turn you into a goon."
Three chances later, the Good Fairy actually turns Little Bunny Foo Foo into a goon and we get to learn the moral of the story: Hare today, Goon tomorrow!
***
The 1st and 2nd form students at Porto da Cruz School adored the activity that I found here: singing and dancing the whole story- making bunny ears, hopping up and down, scooping up the field mice, kissing them on the head, pretending to be the Good Fairy and counting the naughty bunny's chances: 1,2,3.
Some other Easter activities are being done: colouring Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks and flowers.

If you want the song just send an e-mail to this blog's mailbox.

Valentines

Here are a few postcards I found at Activity Village. My students loved saying their messages out loud to each other, and colouring the lovely drawings. They also enjoyed writing their favourite poem inside the card, and posting the valentines in the school's mailbox.

They are eager for tomorrow and anxious for Cupid's visit!

St. Valentine's poems

***
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Darling sweet
I love you.
***

***
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Carnations are sweet
And so are you.

***

***

Plenty of love
Tons of kisses
Hope some day
I'll be your Mrs.

***

***
My love is like a cabbage
Divided into two
The leaves I give to others
The heart I give to you.

Can you keep a secret?

Shhhhhhh! Externato Lisbonense and Escola Básica do Tanque- Monte's pupils don't know it yet but they are going to receive some presents from Escola Básica do Porto da Cruz's pupils.A little bird told me that they are making a book, some dices and a worksheet for their yet unknown friends, all on the topic "Feelings".
I managed to get a few pictures that I'm going to share with you. But remember, it's a secret!

Halloween at E.B. do Porto da Cruz

Another Hallowe'en has gone by in our school. This year the 2nd, 3rd and 4th form students have entered the contest organized by the school's "Equipa Multidisciplinar" and by the English Group. While the 2nd form students carved their pumpkin in the English class with the teacher's help, the 3rd and 4th form students have joined in groups and got together on a Sunday afternoon, carving one pumpkin per group and enjoying the company of their group members as well as their parents and relatives.
The winning pumpkin (on the 1st Cycle) was named by group members as "Bratneless".
Besides entering this contest, the pupils engaged into other Hallowe'en activities, such as making silhouettes to embellish the school's walls, singing the song "Five Little Pumpkins", colouring pictures and a lot more.
Here are some pictures of our pumpkins.
Enjoy them!!!
